Take a break from what has been a busy week, which included elections and school resumption, with a festive First Friday, live music, comedy and more.
1. First Fridays

After the first week of back to school, I’m sure many local families could take advantage of a fun night out to start the weekend.
The early Friday August edition will be back this weekend. The ever-popular monthly gathering always brings a large crowd to the downtown district of Columbia.
As always, many of the downtown stores will be open late and will offer special sales. Dine at local restaurants, food trucks, shop among vendors, and enjoy loads of great live entertainment.
The main events on the first Friday will take place from 5pm to 8pm on Friday.

2. Makky Kaylor Puckett’s launch party

“The Swanky South’s” singer-songwriter Makky Kaylor returns to Puckett’s this Saturday for a special hometown concert, which will include a special announcement.
The announcement has been kept under wraps, but Kaylor says it will be worth the wait and is particularly proud that it was revealed by Puckett’s, where he has been a regular player over the years. It was also where Kaylor recorded her live album, “Live from The Swanky South”, released last year.
“Puckett’s was kind of a base for us,” Kaylor said. “We’ve played there so many times and we love it, even though every stage I’ve had the chance to play in this city is special to me.”
The show, which starts at 7:30 pm on Saturday, is free, even if reserved seats are already sold out. However, seating will continue to be available.
3. A night of country music and comedy at the Senior Center
It will be a night of laughter and live music at the Maury County Senior Citizen Center this weekend.
The senior center, 1020 Maury County Park Drive, will host “A Night of Country Music and Comedy” starting at 6:00 pm on Saturday.
The lineup of the event will include LuLu Roman from “Hee Haw”, Logan Blade, Ray Cooper, Murphy Ridge and Eric Street.
Tickets cost $ 18 at the door, with proceeds benefiting the senior center and Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
4. Music School back to open house school

Now that the class is back in session, Muletown School of Music invites families with children who have a knack for music to its new location this weekend.
The music school, 1409 Hatcher Lane, will host a special open house for back to school from 10:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays.
The event will be an opportunity for guests to learn about the school’s programming, which includes guitar, piano, violin and ukulele lessons.
